Dil Se in Roncesvalles is one of my favourite places to get Indian food in the city. Chef Mani, the owner and head Chef never received formal culinary training, but instead, he learned how to cook from his mother. He uses organic spices in his cooking, often grinding them from whole. I think that’s what makes his dishes taste so spectacular.

The vegetable biryani at Dil Se is so fresh and flavourful. It’s steamed with whole spices like cinnamon, star anise and fenugreek.
Chef Mani loves working in Roncesvalles. He says that his customers supported him through the pandemic by ordering from the restaurant directly, instead of through a delivery app that takes a cut of his profits. “Roncesvalles is like my family,” Chef Mani says. “Everybody is supporting each other.” Chef Mani is at the restaurant cooking seven days a week, so come say hello to him next time you’re here!
